Silver Jubilee Government College, Kurnool was established in October 1972 to cater the needs of rural talented students; in the state of erstwhile A.P. It was conferred as AUTONOMOUS in the year 2005 by UGC, recognized as the College with Potential for Excellence in 2010 by UGC and Re – Accredited with “A” Grade by NAAC in 2014. To provide academic flexibility, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was introduced in 2013 – 14. The institution introduced Co – Education in 2014 – 15 by admitting the women students and providing the hostel facility.

c. Silver Jubilee Government Degree College (Autonomous), Kurnool is under the jurisdiction of Cluster University, Kurnool. However, the students are considered as local for all the A.P. State Universities for P.G. admissions.
d. This institution is conducting many General Electives under CBCS to inculcate additional skills in their subjects and to cultivate research culture among the students. The college also provides NCC, NSS, Physical Education.
