Important clarification: The 44-year limit applies to eligible Non-Uniform Service recruitments under G.O.Ms.No.187. Uniformed posts do not have one common maximum age of 44 years. Under G.O.Ms.No.187, the Andhra Pradesh Government enhanced the relaxed upper age limit for eligible direct recruitment to Non-Uniform Service posts from 42 to 44 years.

The order applies to covered recruitments notified by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission and other recruiting agencies up to 30 September 2027.

G.O.Ms.No.188 extends the existing two-year upper-age relaxation for various uniformed posts. The relaxation is calculated over and above the normal upper age limit prescribed for the concerned post in the relevant Special Rules.

This concession applies to eligible Uniform Service recruitment notifications issued through APPSC and other recruiting agencies up to 30 September 2027.

Uniform Services Covered by the Order

G.O.Ms.No.188 broadly applies to eligible uniformed posts recruited through APPSC and other authorised recruiting agencies. The order was also communicated to authorities including:

• Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission
• AP State Level Police Recruitment Board
• Andhra Pradesh Medical Services Recruitment Board
• District Selection Committees through the concerned departments

Note: Inclusion of a recruiting authority in the order does not mean that every post under it has identical age conditions. Candidates must check the applicable notification and Special Rules for their selected post.

How Is the Revised Age Limit Calculated?

Uniform Service	Add two years to the normal maximum age prescribed for the particular post under its Special Rules.

For example, if the Special Rules prescribe a normal maximum age of 27 years for a particular uniformed post, the two-year concession would make the relaxed limit 29 years, subject to the notification’s cut-off date and other conditions.

Additional Category-Wise Relaxation

Both Government Orders preserve the age concessions available to eligible categories under Rule 12 of the Andhra Pradesh State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.

Category-wise concessions are subject to the applicable rules and the conditions specified in each recruitment notification. Candidates should not calculate their eligibility based only on these Government Orders.

Why Was the Relaxation Extended?

The Government received representations requesting enhancement and extension of recruitment age relaxation in view of the limited recruitment opportunities available to unemployed candidates during the preceding years.

After examining the matter, the Government issued separate orders for Non-Uniform and Uniform Services and extended the applicable benefits up to 30 September 2027.
