The Department of School Education, Andhra Pradesh, has officially announced the reopening of schools for the academic year 2026-27. To mark this fresh start, the Director of School Education, Smt. Thameem Ansariya. A, IAS, has issued comprehensive guidelines to celebrate the first day of school as a mega event: the Student Welcome Festival ("Mana Badi - Mana Panduga").

Key Highlights of AP Schools Reopening 2026

  •  Reopening Date: June 12, 2026.

  •  Event Name: Student Welcome Festival ('Mana Badi - Mana Panduga').

  •  Objective: To create a warm, joyful, child-friendly atmosphere and ensure a smooth transition for new entrants.

  •  Target Group: Special focus on Grade 1 (from Anganwadi), Grade 6, Grade 9, dropouts, and students transferring from private institutions.

Major Objectives of 'Mana Badi - Mana Panduga'

The main goals outlined by the SCERT AP for the festival include:

  • Welcoming all students warmly on Day 1 to set a positive tone for the year.

  • Re-integrating never-enrolled children, school dropouts, and students shifting from private schools.

  • Actively involving parents, School Management Committees (SMC), and local community members in school development.

  • Enhancing regular student attendance and developing a sense of belonging right from the first day.

School Readiness & Preparatory Activities

Before the grand opening on June 12, schools must complete the following beautification and mobilization tasks:

1. School Cleaning & Beautification

  •  Deep Cleaning: Headmasters and teachers must clean classrooms, corridors, toilets, and drinking water points. All ceiling fans must be serviced.

  •  Eco-Friendly Decorations: Use mango leaf torans, beautiful rangoli/muggulu, and marigold garlands. Strictly zero plastic—use only local, natural materials.

  •  Inspirational Displays: Put up welcome banners, motivational quotes, student artwork, and success stories of notable alumni.

2. Community Mobilization & Logistics

  •  Welcoming Committee: Form a dedicated team comprising the HM (Chair), 2-3 teachers, SMC President/VP, 4-5 senior student volunteers, and 2 parents.

  •  Door-to-Door Invitations: Teachers and SMC members should visit village habitations personally to invite new students and their parents.

  •  The Buddy System: HMs must assign a senior 'Buddy Student' to every new entrant to assist them (e.g., Grade 5 buddy for Grade 1; Grade 8/10 buddy for Grade 6/9). One buddy can assist 3–5 new students.

  •  Day 1 Treats: Coordinate with Mid-Day Meal (MDM) cooks to prepare a special sweet treat or sweet pongal.

  •  Zero-Cost Welcome Kits: Prepare simple, handmade bookmarks, school timetables, or greeting cards from classmates.

As per the guidelines, a collective pledge must be administered, where the Headmaster or a senior teacher will lead, and all students, parents, and community members will repeat it.

మేము ఈ పాఠశాల విద్యార్థులు, తల్లిదండ్రులు, ఉపాధ్యాయులు, పాఠశాల నిర్వహణ కమిటీ సభ్యులు మరియు సమాజ సభ్యులు ఈ రోజు ఒక్క మనసుతో ప్రతిజ్ఞ చేస్తున్నాం:

  1. ప్రతి బిడ్డ సురక్షితంగా, సంతోషంగా పాఠశాలకు వచ్చేలా చేయడం మా బాధ్యత.

  2. ఏ బిడ్డ కూడా బడి మానకుండా, చదువు అర్థంతరంగా ఆగకుండా కాపాడతాం.

  3. పాఠశాలను అందరికీ సమ్మిళిత, వివક્ષత లేని స్థలంగా నిలబెడతాం.

  4. విద్యార్థులకు నాణ్యమైన, ఆనందమయమైన అభ్యాస వాతావరణాన్ని అందిస్తాం.

  5. ప్రతి తల్లిదండ్రీ తమ పిల్లల చదువులో భాగస్వాములు అవుతారు.

  6. ప్రతి ఉపాధ్యాయుడు - బాల్యాన్ని గౌరవిస్తూ, ప్రేమతో నేర్పిస్తారు.

  7. సమాజంలో ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ఈ పాఠశాల పిల్లల సంరక్షకులు. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వ పాఠశాలల విద్యార్థులమైన మేము జ్ఞానంతో, శ్రమతో, నీతితో దేశాన్ని నిర్మిస్తాం. ఇది మా ప్రతిజ్ఞ.
