INTRODUCTION:


For sustainable development of the Fisheries and Aquaculture sectors in the state, adequate number of qualified fisheries professionals are very much essential. As per one estimate, there is a requirement of 11,901 Fisheries Diploma holders, 6,118 BFSc holders and 2,541 MFSc holders. This number is likely to double by 2030.

 

In view of the huge demand for fishery professionals, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has established the Andhra Pradesh Fisheries University (APFU) in West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh and the APFU Act No. 39 of 2020 was enacted for the purpose.

 

Through Memo No. 1379698/Fish/A3/2021, Dated:06.04.2021, Government have accorded permission to establish Camp Office of APFU at the Office of the Commissioner of Fisheries, Vijayawada. Accordingly, the Camp Office was established.

 

Suitable land to the extent of Acs. 40.00 Cts was acquired in Likhitapudi and Saripalli Villages of Narasapuram Mandal, West Godavari District for the construction of permanent campus of the University. DPR for the construction of APFU in Narasapuram was prepared at an estimated cost of Rs. 332.00 Crores. Through G.O. Rt. 13, Dated: 17.01.2022 administrative sanction was accorded for Rs. 100 Crores towards the construction of six blocks namely i) Administrative Block ii) Academic block iii) Boys hostel iv) Girl’s hostel v) Farmers Training Institute along with Dormitory vi) VC Bungalow under Phase-I. The foundation stone for the construction work was laid by the hon’ble Chief minister on 21.11. 2022. Construction work of the University campus has already started. Civil works are in going on in full swing.

 

The College of Fishery Science, Muthukur was established on 31st August 1991 as a constituent College of the then Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad. On bifurcation of SVVU from ANGRAU, it has become a constituent College of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) Tirupati from 1st April 2006 and finally on formation of the Andhra Pradesh Fisheries University (APFU) it came under the fold of APFU w.e.f. 19.02.2022.

 

Government has sanctioned a total of 75 Posts to College of Fishery Science (CFSc), Narasapuram vide G.O. Ms. No. 30, Dated: 22.06.2023 of the AH, DD & F (AH.III) Department to make Fisheries Professional Graduates and Post graduates of high quality available in required numbers for achieving sustainable development of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the state. District Collector, WG Dist. has accorded permission to use "Multipurpose Cyclone Protection Building, Lakshmaneswaram, Narasapuram Mandal" for temporarily locating the College till APFU buildings are ready. In view of the non-completion of the permanent buildings, the college is likely to be temporarily relocated to any other suitable location in West Godavari District as per the availability of suitable infrastructure.

 

In view of the above, the admissions for Bachelor of Fisheries Science (BFSc) Programme have been taken up for both the colleges.

 

Programme Offered: Bachelor of Fisheries Science (BFSc)


APFU offers a four year (8 semesters) professional degree programme, Bachelor of Fisheries Science (BFSc) with courses from eight Departments namely Aquaculture, Aquatic Animal Health Management, Fisheries Resource Management, Aquatic Environment Management, Fish Processing Technology, Fisheries Engineering, Fisheries Extension and Fisheries Economics & Statistics. First Seven semesters; students will be undergoing class room teaching and practical classes which include both laboratory experience and field visits. Whereas during the last one semester, students undergo Student READY (Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana) programme. It is conceptualized to reorient fisheries graduates for ensuring and assuring employability and to develop entrepreneurs for emerging knowledge intensive fisheries by articulating knowledge, skill, ability and experiences. The students will undergo Fisheries Work Experience Programme (FIWEP) and Fisheries Entrepreneurship Oriented Programme (FIEOP) during the 8th semester. The APFU has also been offering Master's and Ph.D programmes.

Eligibility: A pass in two-year Intermediate Examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, A.P or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University or Board of Intermediate Education with the following subjects namely;

  2. Biological or Natural Sciences

Age: The candidates for admission to this course shall be required to have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December 2025 with an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates and 25 years in respect of SC and ST candidates and 27 years for differently abled candidates.


Age Limit – Eligibility Criteria:


For General Category candidates:


Minimum age limit is 17 years – Upper age limit 22 years (Candidates should born between 01st January 2004 – 31 December 2008)


For SC & ST Candidates Upper age limit is 25 years:


Minimum age limit is 17 years – Upper Age limit 25 years (Candidates should born between 01st January 2001 – 31 December 2008)


For Physically Challenged Candidates Upper Age limit is 27 years:

Reservation of seats for the candidates coming from families of Agriculturist cum Rural Area (Farmer’s Quota):

Twenty-five percent (25%) of the seats in the APFU are reserved for candidates coming from families of Agriculturists (Farmers) owning not less than 1 (one) acre of land either in the name of the parents or in the name of the candidates and who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in non-Municipal areas. If the land is owned by grandfather, grandmother or guardian or any other relations is not acceptable.


If the candidate applied for farmers quota they have to produce the following forms;


Form–I:

  • It is a proforma indicating the patta numbers and extent of land owned by the candidate/parents duly certified by the Mandal Revenue Officer/Tahsildar with office seal.
  • Candidate must also upload land owned record - Adangal/1B from Meebhoomi Land records (or) Original Pattadar Passbook as evidence for the extent of land owned.

Form–II:

  • It is a proforma to be certified by the Head Master of the School with office seal that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of four years in schools located in non-Municipal areas during their period of study from 1st class to 12th class/Intermediate (Non- Municipal Area Study Certificate).
  • All study certificates claimed under non municipal area must also be

Duly filled Form - I and Form - II with the signatures of concerned officials viz., Mandal Revenue Officer/Tahsildar and concerned Head of Institution respectively, along with office seal need to be uploaded. Otherwise, the claim of the candidates under this category will be summarily rejected.

During certificate verification under farmer’s quota, the candidate must produce/uploaded original Form I, Form II, the original Pattadar Passbook or Adangal /1B from Mee-seva as evidence for the extent of land and all study certificates from the educational institutions studied as per application registered.

Note: The counselling/verification under special categories (CAP, NCC, PH, Sports, Scouts and Guides) will be held in the presence of authorities concerned and seats will be allotted as per the priorities indicated by the officers concerned.


Reservation under special category seats:


Seat allotment in these reservations shall be done based on the priorities awarded to candidates in each category following certificate verification and authentication by respective authorities as per the relevant GO’s applicable from time to time (NCC by NCC Directorate, Hyderabad; Defence (CAP) by Sainik Welfare Department; Games and Sports by Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, Scouts and Guides, Andhra Pradesh and Differently abled (PH) by Medical Authorities and ) and rank in AP EAPCET 2025.


Economically Weaker Section (EWS) – 10% (supernumerary seats)


Reservation of seats for Women: 33⅓ % of the seats shall be reserved in favour of women candidates from each category.


Allocation of seats in favour of Local candidates in relation to Local area:


Admissions to 85% of available seats shall be reserved in favour of local candidates of Andhra University and Sri Venkateswara University regions in the ratio of 65.62 and 34.38 respectively. The rest of 15% of the seats shall be un-reserved for candidates of local / nonlocal areas to be filled as per the item (ii) (C) under G.O.Ms.No.21 Higher Education (EC) Department, Dt.12-05-2025.


Criteria for Selection:


The admission process in the BFSc Course is carried out duly following the G.O. Ms. No. 184 Dt: 20.08.1993 Govt. of A.P. The selection of candidates for all the seats shall be made on the basis of ranks obtained by the candidates in A.P EAPCET 2025. The candidates will be selected based on merit, presidential order, region and social status. State Level Rank only will be considered.


In case of a tie in ranks obtained by two or more candidates in the AP EAPCET 2025, the marks secured in the optional subjects of the qualifying examination shall be taken into consideration. In case of a further tie, the age of the candidate shall be taken into consideration.


Allotment of seats during counselling process:


Based on Merit in AP EAPCET 2025 duly following Presidential Order & Rule of reservation and based on the web-options given by the candidate, the seat allotment will be done.


The Selected candidate have to report at allotted college either College of Fishery Science, Muthukur or College of Fishery Science, Narasapuram* along with all original certificates and pay fee in the stipulated time failing which the admission will automatically stand cancelled, the seat falls vacant, which will be filled in next phase of online-counselling/Manual counselling.

Hostel facility: Hostel facility shall be provided subject to the availability of accommodation at College of Fishery Science, Muthukur. However, hostel facility is not available at College of Fishery Science, Narasapuram*.

Online Registration Fee:


The candidates must pay online registration fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) for General and BC candidates and Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) in case of SC, ST & PH (Differently Abled) candidates at the time of uploading online application before last date.


However, the candidates are allowed for online registration up to two days after last date of registration with late fee of Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees two thousand only) for General and BC Candidates and Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) in case of SC, ST & PH (Differently Abled) candidates.


The candidates who are granted admission shall pay the following prescribed fees at the time of joining the college and hostel (if applicable).

  • If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat before the closure of admissions for the Academic Year 2025-26, an amount of 5000.00 shall be collected as processing fee. The remaining fees already paid during admission shall be refunded.
  • If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat after closure of admission process for the Academic Year 2025-26, the candidate forfeits the fees already paid and in addition, he/she has to pay an amount of 5000.00 towards Seat Cancellation fee for General and BC and Rs.2,500.00 for SC/ST/PH - Candidates.

The applicant seeking admission into Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc) programme should keep scanned copies of the following applicable documents ready before proceeding to online registration process.

  1. The latest certified copy of the Social Status Certificate issued by the competent authority of Andhra Pradesh in case of applicants belonging to Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (If applicable).
    1. In case of Backward Classes category, candidates need to upload certificates of specific categories i.e., BC-A/B/C/D/E and OBC Certificate shall not be accepted.
    2. Overall Scheduled Caste (SC) certificates shall not be accepted. The certificates shall mandatorily upload the category of the candidate i.e, SC-Group I/SC-Group II/SC-Group III.
  2. The latest certified copy of the EWS Certificate valid for the year 2025-26 issued by the competent authority in case of applicants belonging to EWS category. EWS certificate shall be taken in the financial year of 2025-26 e., after 31st March 2025. Previous year certificate will be summarily rejected.
  3. Candidates claiming local status should submit the latest certified copy of Local Status Certificate issued for candidate by competent authority.
  4. Agricultural Land Holding Certificate (Form-I) for candidates claiming under farmer’s quota.
  1. Non-Municipal Area Study Certificate (Form-II) for candidates claiming under farmer’s quota.
  1. The latest certified copy of Physically Challenged (Differently Abled) Certificate are mandatory for claiming seat under PH quota.
  2. Children of Armed Personnel Certificate/Defense Personnel Certificate are mandatory for claiming seat under CAP quota.

Note: During the online certificate verification process, candidates need to reupload the required documents as per query raised by verification officer.


In case of category certificate and Farmer quota certificate candidate need to upload clear certificates failing which the candidate will be considered under General category.


Original Certificates to be produced & submitted at the time of joining the College:

The candidates   granted   admission,   should   submit   the   following certificates in Original at the time of admission.

  1. Pass Certificate-cum-Memorandum of Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination (Intermediate).
  2. Hall Ticket & Rank Card of AP EAPCET
  3. SSC or its equivalent Examination
  4. The Community Certificate in the case of candidates belonging to Backward Classes/Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, signed by the competent authority/Latest EWS certificate for the year 2025-26 & older certificates will summarily be rejected.
  5. Bonafide or Study certificates (6th class to Intermediate or its equivalent).

Grievance Request:

  • The Data/Information of all candidates has been considered from AP EAPCET 2025 examination as entered by the candidates and validated for AP EAPCET 2025 examination.
  • If any candidate wants to edit or upload any document now in support of candidature, the candidate first must COMPLETE REGISTRATION
  • A registered candidate can edit or upload any certificate/document by applying from "Grievance Request" and add/upload Documents or Certificates in relevant fields, THIS FACILITY can be AVAILED ONLY ONCE. All those uploaded documents will be considered for further processing only subject to the verification by the competent authorities.
Login:
  • No separate login is required for the candidates as the Registered Mobile number and Hall Ticket would be authenticated for all services such as Registration, Grievance requests, Web-options, Print payment receipt, etc.
  • Applicants have to complete their registration by verifying their data populated in the application form and also making payment.
  • The candidates are informed to mention their personal mobile numbers but not the mobile numbers of relatives, friends, net/online/xerox centres during online registration.
