Commissioner School Education has conducted the District School Games Secretaries workshop cum Executive committee meeting at Samagra Siksha Conference Hall on 17-11-202.
The Commissioner of School Education has observed that While nominating the School Games Secretaries in the state there are no Woman School Games Secretaries under 14 and 17 categories. This is in-spite of the fact that more than 40 % of Physical education teachers in the SE department are Women. Hence the Commissioner of School Education has directed to nominate Women Physical education teachers as the school Games secretaries in at least 33% of districts i. e 9 out of 26 districts. The Executive committee has taken resolution to this effect in this meeting. It was further directed that if the SGF is not able to come forward with the changes as proposed above, the same shall be implemented in 9 districts with highest proportion of Women Physical education teachers.
In this connection, as per the above Instructions, 9 districts with highest cadre strength of women Physical Education teachers in the state Chittoor, Srikakulam, Ananthapur, Tirupathi, Annamayya, Prakasam, Kakinada, YSR Kadapa and Nellore districts. In these 9 districts, Women Physical education teachers based on seniority and willingness shall be nominated as district school games Secretaries.
Hence, the District Educational Officers of Chittoor, Srikakulam, Ananthapur, Tirupathi, Annamayya, Prakasam, Kakinada, YSR Kadapa, Nellore are instructed to appoint an active and willing Women Physical Education teacher (SA(PE) or PET) with good achievement and sufficient seniority as District School Games Secretary and appoint the present school Games Secretary as Joint Secretary.
In this regard, the District Educational Officers of Chittoor, Srikakulam, Ananthapur, Tirupathi, Annamayya, Prakasam, Kakinada, YSR Kadapa, Nellore are requested to take necessary action in this matter.
The above instructions are taken as a one time measure, with the intention to bring gender parity in Physical education and encourage girl students in taking up sports and games activities in the state. In future, as and when the tenure of the exciting secretaries get over and the new district committees are constituted, it is expected that sufficient number of women Physical education teachers will be given opportunity to serve as District SGF secretaries.
