Junior Red Cross - (RC) - Setting up of JRC Units in every school in the State - Online registration of all the Students studying 8th to 10th Class as JRC Volunteers using the AP Red Cross Mobile App - Reg Circular Rc.No.APPS/GCDO/2020 30/06/2020

The attention of all the Educational Officers & Ex. Officio Project Co ordinators and Additional project coordinator in the State are informed that the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is a Voluntary Humanitarian organization providing relief in times of disasters/emergencies and promotes health and care of the vulnerable people and communities. It is a leading member of the largest independent humanitarian organization in the world, the international Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.
In the on-going war against CORONA VIRUS, the school Students in the state play a major role and their collective strength is the biggest asset for all of us which needs to be further channelized for protecting themselves and the community during the current pandemic. Honorable Governor and the President of the IRCS, AP State Branch While launching the AP Red Cross Mobile APP on 26.06.2020 at Raj Bhavan, Vijayawada has directed the school Education Department to take immediate action in strengthening the Junior Red Cross by integrating it in to the academic curriculum and own it as an integral part of the normal departmental activities and Red Cross will be an auxiliary organization to the Department.
In this context, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) has requested District Educational Officers in the State to establish one Unit of Junior Red Cross in every school,
both Private and government, in the State and register every student studying in 8 to 10 class as Junior Red Cross Volunteers using the AP Red Cross Mobile APP within one week,
And also all the Teachers may be requested to enrol the students through online registration as it is a smart phone based app and students are not in schools. The digital platform along with the centralized database so created through the AP RED CROSS MOBILE APP will be utilized by the School Education Department to train and guide the Students by providing online training inculcating the spirit of voluntarism and also equipping them with all the latest information to fight the battle against CORONA VIRUS till the end while protecting themselves and their neighborhood through extensive community surveillance and awareness creation activities against the deadly virus.
Teachers may be appointed by the Head Master of the School who will act as School Counsellor for Junior Red Cross Groups in each School and will work under the guidance of the Head Master of the School. A link to the Mobile Numbers of the mothers of the students studying in 8 to 10 class has already been sent and accordingly the school Teachers can guide the students for getting themselves registered as JRC Volunteers using the AP Red Cross Mobile APP.
Therefore, District Educational Officer & Ex Officio Project Coordinator and Additional Project Coordinator in the state are requested to complete the online registration process and setting up of JRC Units in every School in the District which should be completed within one week. The AP Red Cross will share link for the registration of Junior Red Cross Volunteers to District Educational Officers who could share the link to all the MEOs and Teachers in their respective jurisdictions.
Action taken in this regard will form part of regular periodical reviews with District Educational Officers.
