As per the Government Orders cited and the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the third Saturday of every month is being observed as “Swachha Andhra Day” across all districts, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Rural Local Bodies (RLBs), and Government institutions to promote cleanliness, public health, and citizen participation.
As per the instructions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the Swarna Andhra – Swachha Andhra (SASA) programme for the month of April 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on 18.04.2026 at Nidadavole, East Godavari District with the theme “Jalam – Jeevam.” All districts are requested to organize focused and result-oriented activities on 18th April 2026, aimed at strengthening water conservation, improving water resource management, promoting reuse of treated water, and enhancing community participation in sustainable water practices.
Suggested Activities
- Revival, repair, and activation of rainwater harvesting structures in public and private buildings.
- Identification, protection, and cleanliness drives for lakes, tanks, ponds, and other water bodies.
- Expansion of used-water (greywater) management systems, including soak pits, drainage channels, and reuse arrangements.
- Promotion of treated wastewater reuse for parks, construction activities, flushing, and other non-potable purposes.
- Conduct community awareness campaigns on water conservation, responsible usage, and water budgeting.
- Undertake water audits in government buildings, schools, and public institutions to assess water usage and identify conservation measures.
- Monitor changes in groundwater levels and soil moisture conditions using available spatial and field data.
- Organize cleaning drives for drains and water bodies to prevent water stagnation and improve environmental hygiene.
- Encourage adoption of decentralized wastewater management practices at household and community levels.
- Promote participation of citizens, SHGs, RWAs, farmers, youth groups, and educational institutions in water conservation initiatives.
- Ensure convergence among MA&UD, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Irrigation Department, Ground Water Department, Rural Water Supply, Health Department, and other line departments for coordinated implementation.
Implementation & Reporting Guidelines
- Ensure participation of all District and Zonal Special Officers.
- Assign the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) as the District Nodal Officer for monitoring and reporting through the SASA App.
- Encourage inter-departmental coordination among all concerned departments.
- Involve citizens, RWAs, SHGs, NGOs, educational institutions, and community organizations in planning and execution.
Focus on measurable outcomes such as:
- Number of functional rainwater harvesting structures revived/created
- Number of water bodies cleaned and protected
- Number of greywater management systems established
- Extent of treated wastewater reuse
- Reduction in water stagnation and waterlogging issues
- Citizen participation and feedback
Submit activity-wise documentation, success stories, and best practices through photographs, video reels, and geo-tagged evidence on the SASA platform.
All the District Collectors are requested to ensure effective execution of the above activities on 18.04.2026 and encourage maximum public participation. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned departments, institutions, and local bodies.
Further, District Collectors are requested to convene planning and coordination meetings in advance to ensure participation of all line departments, ULBs/RLBs, institutions, schools, sanitation workers, and public representatives. The outcomes shall be documented and reported with photographs, video reels, and activity-wise metrics.
