The attention of all District Educational Officers (DEOs) in the state is invited to the reference 1st cited,(Copy enclosed) wherein the Government of Andhra Pradesh has scheduled the 20th round of the National De worming Day (NDD) programme to be conducted on 12th August 2025, followed by the Mop-Up Day (MUD) on 20th August 2025 across all 26 districts of the state.

 

In this context, the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare has issued instructions to RBSK Coordinators to ensure effective coordination among line departments such as School Education, Intermediate Education, Women and Child Welfare, etc., for the successful execution of the NDD campaign.

 

Key Highlights:

  • The finalized target for the August 2025 NDD round is 112.24 lakh children across the 26 districts.
  • The district-wise target breakup is enclosed as Annexure A.
  • All districts must report coverage strictly as per the pre-finalized targets. No downward revision of targets will be accepted while submitting the coverage report.
  • The distribution of deworming tablets to all schools is currently in transit and will be completed by 7th August 2025.

Responsibilities of District Educational Officers (DEOs):


Nodal Responsibility:


DEOs shall act as nodal officers for the effective implementation of the National Deworming Day in their respective districts.


Coordination with Health Department:


Ensure close coordination with the District Medical and Health department for smooth implementation of NDD. DEOs are also requested to extend support for utilizing the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) platform for real-time reporting on both NDD and Mop-Up Day.


Teacher Engagement:


Engage dedicated and trained teachers to oversee and implement the NDD programme in all schools and junior colleges.


Parental Awareness:


Teachers shall disseminate key information to parents through various platforms like school assemblies, School Management Committee (SMC) meetings, etc., highlighting:

  • The schedule and importance of Deworming Day and Mop-Up Day.
  • Benefits of deworming for children's health and learning outcomes.
  • Possible mild side effects in children with high worm load (not serious, typically subside quickly).
  • Preparedness measures by Education and Health Departments to manage any adverse events.
Interdepartmental Participation:


Participation of district-level officials from Health, School Education, Higher Education, WDCW, Swachh Bharat Mission, Panchayat Raj, and private school associations in the District Convergence Coordination Meeting (DCCM) is mandatory.


Training Participation:


Ensure the participation of relevant officials in district /division /PHC-level training programmes on NDD.


Reporting and Data Submission:


Teachers must adhere to the reporting protocol and ensure timely submission of the NDD reporting formats.


IMMS Module Update: The IMMS module will provide a provision to update the number of students who received deworming tablets by Head Masters. The data entry should be done at the time of deworming tablets distributed


Guidelines & Coordination


Detailed guidelines, Do’s and Don’ts, and instructions issued by the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare-along with contact details of district coordinators from the Health Department are attached herewith for your reference and necessary action.


Hence, all the District Educational Officers in the state are requested to take immediate steps to ensure thorough planning, timely coordination, and effective execution of the 20th round of NDD as per the directions.
