Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET-2024) for the year 2024 will be conducted on 28th April 2024, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.47, Higher Education (CE) Department and Reaccreditation of UGC, New Delhi for recruitment and promotions of Lecturers / Assistant Professors in Universities and Degree Colleges as per the U.G.C. Updated Guidelines 2023. Eligible Candidates who wish to apply for APSET-2024 may submit their application through online mode. The detailed information regarding the eligibility, syllabus, test centres, related instructions, fees for late submissions and procedures for online submission of application are available on the websites: www.andhrauniversity.edu.in; apset.net.in

APSET Registration Fee: Rs. 1,200/- (for General and EWS Categories), Rs.1000/- (for B.C. Category) and Rs.700/- (for SC / ST / PWD / Transgender categories) may be paid through payment gateway (Credit card / Debit card / Net banking)

APSET 2024 ELIGIBILITY:
  1. General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Backward Classes (BC) /Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
  2. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of BC/ SC / ST / PwD / Third gender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
  3. Candidates belonging to the Third gender category are eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and Eligibility Criteria for SET (Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject-wise qualifying cut-offs for this category would be the lowest among those for SC / ST / PwD / BC / General-EWS categories in the corresponding subject.
  4. The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination has been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
  5. Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of SET subjects may appear in UGC-NET/Joint CSIR-UGC Test.
  6. Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/ institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/ certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in).
  7. The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship / Assistant Professorship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for the post of Lecturer / Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Lecturer / Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.
  8. There is no age limit for appearing APSET.
  9. Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to APSET office. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the APSET at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action. APSET does not verify the information provided by the candidates during online registration and hence candidature will be purely provisional subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
  10. For eligibility to Assistant Professor in Universities it is governed by guidelines issued by UGC and Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.
  11. All legal disputes related to the SET shall be within the jurisdication of the courts in Visakhapatnam Only.

APSET 2024 Exam Pattern, Medium of Question Paper

  1. The question paper - I which is common for all candidates appearing APSET will be bilingual (English and Telugu).
  2. Paper – II for the following subjects a) Commerce b) Economics c) Education d) History e) Political Science f) Public Administration and g) Sociology will be bilingual (English and Telugu). All the remaining papers are in English only except Hindi, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu.
  3. The first paper carrying 100 marks is of General Awareness comprising 50 compulsory objective type questions of two marks each. The duration of this paper is one hour. Paper-I is common to candidates of all SET subjects.
  4. Paper-II carries 200 marks and is to contain 100 compulsory objective type questions of two marks each from the subject selected by the candidate. Further, the duration of this paper is two hours.
