What Does G.O.Rt.No.2015 Say?
The Government had earlier notified the General Holidays and Optional Holidays for 2026 through G.O.Rt.No.2276, dated 4 December 2025. According to the present order, 19 October 2026 had been included in neither category.
After considering the request submitted by the President of the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Association, Velagapudi, Amaravati, in a letter dated 15 October 2026, the Government declared the additional General Holiday for Maharnavami.
The new notification partially modifies the earlier holiday orders. It directs publication of the notification in the Andhra Pradesh Extraordinary Gazette. The order is issued in the name of the Governor and bears the name of G. Sai Prasad, Chief Secretary to Government.
November 14, 2026: Working Day Instead of Second Saturday Holiday
Although 14 November 2026 falls on the second Saturday, this order specifically makes it a working day in lieu of the General Holiday declared for 19 October 2026. Both dates should therefore be noted when planning attendance and official work.
Instructions for Personnel on Election Duty
The holiday declaration does not relieve personnel from assigned election work. The order expressly requires everyone engaged in the election process or election related activities to continue attending their assigned duties.
