Challenge of Provisional Answer Key for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) - 2026 held on 21.06.2026 (reg.)

The National Testing Agency conducted the re-examination of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) - 2026 on 21 June 2026 (Sunday) from 02:00 P.M. to 05:15 P.M.

The National Testing Agency has uploaded the Question Papers (all four sets) of NEET (UG)2026 held on 21.06.2026 on the website https://nta.ac.in/. and the Provisional Answer Keys for NEET (UG) — 2026 on the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/.

Objective- Transparency and Earliest Possible Declaration of Results

This year, the National Testing Agency has launched the Answer Key Challenge process at the same time as the publication of the provisional answer keys, while the scanning of OMR answer sheets is still in progress. This has been done deliberately, in the interest of transparency, so that every candidate has an early and open opportunity to review the provisional answer keys for all four sets and to flag any question that, in their view, deserves a fresh look. By enabling expert review of the challenges to commence in parallel with OMR scanning, rather than sequentially after it, the National Testing Agency aims to publish the final answer key and declare the result at the earliest possible date.

Candidates are accordingly being given an opportunity to make an online challenge to the provisional answer keys, as per the details given below:

Key terms candidates should note

  • Please note that candidate is required to submit the challenge only through Online mode during the stipulated time period along with the requisite fee. Challenge submitted by any other mode (email/fax/letter etc.) and without fee will not be accepted.
  • Candidate is required to raise a challenge against a question only under his/her own Question Paper Series Code (the Series Code printed on the cover of the Test Booklet taken home from the examination centre on 21.06.2026). If a challenge is accepted by the subject matter experts, the resulting correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates across all four sets. Candidates therefore do not need to raise the same challenge separately under multiple Series Codes.
  • The Answer Key finalized after the challenge will be treated as final No challenge/grievance with regard to Answer Key(s) after closure of Challenge Window I declaration of result will be entertained.
  • The processing fee of 200/- per question challenged will be refunded in full for every challenge that is accepted by the expert panel.
  • The individual scanned OMR response sheets are not part of this stage, as OMR scanning is still in progress. Candidates will be given a separate opportunity to view their individual scanned OMR response sheets once scanning has been completed.

The candidates are required to visit the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/, view the provisional answer keys, and challenge them if required.

The detailed information along with the step-by-step procedure for raising a challenge is enclosed at Annexure 1.

The payment of the processing fee may be made through Debit Card Credit Card / Net Banking by 28 June 2026 (up to 11:50 P.M.). No challenge will be entertained without receipt of the processing fee. Challenges will be accepted only through the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/ during the challenge window period.

Challenges made by candidates will be verified by the designated subject matter experts. If a challenge is found correct on merit, the provisional answer key will be revised, and the responses will be evaluated against the revised final answer key for the purpose of preparing and declaring the result. Individual decisions on each challenge will not be communicated separately to candidates; however, the revised final answer key will be published on the website, and the processing fee will be refunded for every challenge that is accepted. The key finalised by the experts after the challenge period shall be final. No challenge will be accepted after 28 June 2026 (after 11:50 P.M.).

Annexure 1 Provisional Answer Key Challenge: Candidate Instructions: These instructions explain how to raise a challenge against the provisional answer key for NEET (UG) — 2026. The rationale for launching this process now (in parallel with OMR scanning) is set out in the main Public Notice. This Annexure tells you the practical steps to follow.

What you should know before you begin

  • You only need to challenge under your own Series Code (the one printed on the cover of the Test Booklet you took home from the examination centre). If your challenge is accepted by the expert panel, the correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates across all four sets. You do not need to challenge the same question separately under other Series Codes.
  • The fee is Rs. 200 per question challenged. If your challenge is accepted, the fee for that question will be refunded to you in full.
  • Your scanned OMR sheet is not part of this stage. It will be made available to you separately, once OMR scanning is complete.
  • Submission is one-time and final. Please review your selections carefully before you pay and submit. No additions or modifications are possible after submission.

About your Question Paper Series Code

(To be displayed on the Landing Page and again when the candidate enters the Series Code)

"Your Question Paper Series Code is printed on the cover of the Test Booklet you took home from the examination centre on 21 June 2026. Please enter that same Series Code here so your challenges line up with the paper you actually attempted."

How to raise your challenges Step 1: Enter your Series Code

  • Enter the Question Paper Series Code printed on the cover of your Test Booklet, and

Step 2: Select the questions you want to challenge

  • Pick all the question for which you wish to challenge the declared provisional answer key.
Step 3: Put remarks and Upload supporting evidence
  • Upload documentary evidence in support of your challenge for that question. Acceptable sources include references from standard textbooks (with chapter and page citation), NCERT, and other reputable academic publications. Only authentic and verifiable sources will be considered.

Step 4: Review your challenges

  • Go through all your selected challenges carefully. After final submission, no additions or modifications are possible.

Step 5: Pay the challenge fee

  • The fee is 200 per question challenged. Your challenges will be processed only after successful payment. The fee will be refunded in full for every question on which your challenge is accepted by the expert panel.

Step 6: Final confirmation

"By clicking Submit, you confirm that the Question Paper Series Code you have entered matches the Test Booklet you attempted on 21 June 2026, and that you wish to submit the listed challenges for expert review. Submission can be made only once. Please ensure your review (Step 5) is complete before proceeding."

Step 7: Acknowledgement

  • Your challenges have been submitted successfully. Please save the acknowledgement and transaction details for your future reference.

What happens after submit

  • Every challenge received within the challenge window will be placed before a panel of subject experts. Expert review starts immediately and runs in parallel with OMR scanning, so neither step has to wait for the other.
  • Where a challenge is accepted on merit, the provisional answer key for that question will be revised. The revised answer applies uniformly to every candidate, across all four sets, irrespective of who raised the challenge or under which Series Code.
  • Your Rs. 200 fee will be refunded for each question on which your challenge is accepted.

Individual decisions on each challenge will not be sent separately, but the revised final answer key will be published on the website before results are declared.

The revised final answer key is then used to evaluate the scanned OMR responses. Results will be declared at the earliest after OMR scanning is complete.

Once scanning is complete, you will be given a separate opportunity to view your individual scanned OMR response sheet, in line with the established process.
