Vidyanjali: Empowering Schools Through Community Volunteering and Asset Contribution.
Vidyanjali is a Ministry of Education initiative allowing individuals and organizations to voluntarily support government and government-aided schools across India. Through the Vidyanjali portal, volunteers contribute through services (teaching, mentoring) or assets (equipment, infrastructure) to improve learning environments.
Key Aspects of Vidyanjali:
Objectives: The program aims to strengthen school resources, foster public participation (Samagra Shiksha), and complement government efforts in education.
Two Primary Verticals:
Participate in School Service/Activity: Volunteers can teach vocational skills, languages, yoga/sports, or offer mentoring and career counseling.
Contribution in Assets/Material/Equipment: Donations include Digital Infrastructure, Basic Electrical/Civil Infrastructure, Classroom Needs (benches, tables), Teaching Learning Material (TLM), and Sports Equipment.
Who Can Participate: Volunteers include alumni, retired teachers/scientists/armed forces personnel, young professionals, and private organizations/CSR initiatives.
Process: The program uses a structured digital framework requiring registration, where schools post their needs, and volunteers can choose projects, ensuring transparency and accountability.
As of early 2026, Vidyanjali has facilitated over 56,000 service activities and 35,000 asset contributions, benefiting over 2 crore.
