AGRI POLYCET 2024 Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University is a pioneering university in the country serving the farmers of the state of AP for the last five decades and imparting quality education in Agriculture. ANGRAU established the first ever Agricultural Polytechnic in the combined state of AP in 1989 at RARS, Palem with an aim to train rural youth at grass root level to cater the needs of Agriculture and allied sectors. At present, ANGRAU is having 17 constituent and 58 affiliated polytechnics offering Diploma programmes in Agriculture, Organic farming, seed technology and Agricultural Engineering in different districts of AP.

  • The information furnished in this brochure is in accordance with the rules of admission in force as on the date of publication. However, the amendments/ Court orders issued from time to time shall be made applicable.
  • Admission into new Diploma Courses sanctioned, if any during the academic year 2024- 2025 will be done on the basis of SSC marks.
  • Candidates must go through the eligibility requirement before completing the online application form for 2024-25 admissions.
  • Candidate is solely responsible to ensure that he/she fulfills the specified eligibility before applying/ filling application form.

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) offers the following Four Diploma Programmes (The Tentative list of Polytechnics along with number of seats are given in Annexure 1-IV)

Eligibility: The candidates should fulfill the following criteria


  • Academic Qualification:
    1. Candidate should have passed SSC Examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh/Telangana or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Secondary Education, A.P./T.S such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open School (NIOS), A.P, Open School Society (APOSS), Telangana Open School Society (TOSS).
    2. Candidate should belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh as defined in G.O. (P). No. 646, Education (W) Dept, dated. 10.07.1979 and its subsequent amendments.
    3. Candidates who appeared SSC or equivalent examination held in March/May-2024, and whose results are yet to be declared can also
    4. Candidates who have passed SSC in compartmental and who have either discontinued or failed in intermediate are also eligible for diploma admission.
    5. Candidate who had passed intermediate or pursuing higher studies are not eligible for admission into diploma courses offered by

 Age Limit:

Candidates who wish to seek admission into these courses shall have to complete 15 years of age as on 31-08-2024 with an upper age limit of 22 years (Born in between 31.08.2002 and 31.08.2009).


Selection Process:

  • Per cent of marks/ Total marks obtained in SSC or its equivalent examination will be considered in the order of merit for Seat allotment.
  • In case of tie, the marks/grade point obtained first in Science and later Mathematics and Social respectively will be taken into consideration for tie breaking.
  • In case if tie still continues, the age of the candidates will be taken into consideration and the older candidates will be given preference.

 Note: ICSE students need to enter average of three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) for science and two subjects (History & Civics; Geography) for social while entering the subject wise marks.


Reservation of Seats:


Reservation of seats for the candidates coming from Rural Area:

Seventy five (75 %) of the seats in various diploma courses are reserved for the candidates who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas (Rural) and Twenty five (25 %) seats are reserved for the candidates who have studied in Municipal area.


  • FORM-I: Proforma to be certified by the Headmaster of the School with his office seal that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of four years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas (Rural) during their period of study from 1st class to 10th class (Non-Municipal Area Certificate).
  • If FORM-I is not filled in or not duly signed by the concerned Head of Institution or officer along with office seal, the claim of the candidates will be rejected and will not be considered under non - municipal area (Rural).

NCC (National Cadet Corps):


Reservation to the extent of 1% shall be available for candidates of this category. The priority for consideration will be as per GO.Ms.No.21 HE (TE-1) Dept., Dt.13- 05- 2002 [Refer Annexure V] and other guidelines revised by Govt. of AP from time to time.




Reservation to the extent of 0.5% (½%) shall be available for candidates of this category. Certificates issued by various organizations constituted by Central / State Government to conduct the event will alone be considered under this category. The participation in games and Sports before the qualifying Examinations (SSC or Equivalent) will only be considered. The priority under this Category will be fixed as per the rules in vogue at the time of admissions. [Refer Annexure VI].


Physically Handicapped (PH):


Reservation to the extent of  5 % for physically handicapped as per the G.O. MS No. 27, WCDA & SC (Prog .II), Dept Dt. 14.05.2023 shall be implemented subjected to approval by the Board of Management, ANGRAU). However candidates with defects like Muscular dystrophy, Deaf and Dum, Blindness and mentally retardation are not eligible for admission. [Refer Annexure VII].


Children of Armed Personnel (CAP):


Reservation to the extent of 2% of the seats shall be available for the children of ex-servicemen and defense personnel including Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police [Refer Annexure VIII].

Subject to the condition that

  • Candidates whose parents are domicile of Andhra Pradesh will alone be considered as per the judgment of the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh in P.NO.17095, 17950,17952,19150 and others of 2006
  • The candidate shall also submit a certificate from the Director, Sainik Welfare Board / Zilla Sainik Welfare Board as to their eligibility to be considered under this quota specifying the category to which the applicant belongs with attested copies of the documentary evidence for claim as given in Annexure -VIII.
  • The decision of A.P. Sainik Board or its nominee is final and binding on the Candidates in this regard.

 The order of priority and merit under this category is governed by G.O.Ms.No.192, Edn.(EC-2) Dept., dated 26-8-94 and as amended by G.O.Ms.No.370, Edn.(EC-2) Dept., dated 18-10-1994 (See Annexure-VIII).


If there is more than one eligible candidate in a particular priority in any of the above four special reservation categories, the selection shall be based on the merit.


Inter conversion of seats among the special reservation categories is not applicable. If sufficient numbers of candidates are not available to fill the seats reserved for special reservation category, they shall be filled with candidates of general pool of that reservation category.


The certificates of the candidates of above special categories shall be verified by the concerned officers and the seats will be allotted as per the priorities indicated by them during counseling.


33 % seats are reserved for girl students in all the above categories.


10 per cent supernumerary seats shall be made available under EWS category


Allocation of seats:


Among the total seats, 85% of the seats are reserved for local candidates and 15% of seats are Un-Reserved and will be filled on merit basis. Among the local 85 per cent, the seats shall be allotted on 42:22 ratio among Andhra University (AU) region (Former Districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam) and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) region (Former Districts of Chittoor, Ananthapur, Kurnool, Kadapa and Nellore).


Residential Certificate:

Applicants who have gap/break in the years of study for reasons other than failure or those who passed the qualifying examination by private study have to submit Residential Certificate issued by the Tahsildar/MRO. In case, the applicant has resided in more than one place, a separate certificate from the respective Tahsildars/MRO’s should be furnished for such places of residence.


Application for Online counseling:


  • Application and Counseling Fee:
    • Online registration and counseling fee for candidates belong to SC/ST and differently abled (PH) category is Rs.400.00 (Four hundred only) and for all other candidates Rs.800.00 (Rupees eight hundred only).
    • The applicant has to select Rupay Debit Card/ UPI/ Debit Card /Credit Card (Visa /Master Card)/Internet Banking option to pay the fee and follow the online instruction to complete payment of fee.
    • Processing charges of payment gateway as applicable are chargeable from the candidate (in addition to exam fee) only.
    • Once payment made, it cannot be refunded under any circumstances, hence applicant should go through the information bulletin carefully regarding eligibility criteria before proceeding to the payment.

 Application Procedure:

  • Candidates should fill the online application carefully and check details such as local area/ municipal/ non municipal area, reservation/ special categories etc. and submit the application online.
  • It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she fulfills the specified eligibility before applying/ filling application form.
  • No corrections will be permitted once the application form is
  • Please note that University/ Colleges will NOT be held responsible for denial of admission to non-eligible candidates.
  • Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate will not be accepted and will lead to the cancellation of his/her seat.
  • Government decided to link the scholarship applications with the Aadhar number for affecting the cash transaction scheme. For this every student must furnish the Aadhar number vide Government memo No. 16035/Sw. Edn.2/2012-4 dt. 29.12.2012.
  • The admissions into polytechnics for the academic year 2024-25 shall be made on the basis of Web Counseling. Where in candidates can opt for any course at any polytechnic in the order of priority and the allotment shall be made for his/her best preferred choice based on his/her merit and other admission rules in vogue.
  • Candidates have to prepare set of preferable colleges – course combinations (Web options) they wish to join in consultation with their parents, teachers and friends and after thorough enquiry about the polytechnics in different districts.
  • The order of options is to be entered by the candidate carefully. A print out of the options entered shall be kept as record for reference.
  • Candidates should download the allotment order and report at the allotted college within the prescribed time.
  • Candidate who fails to turn up at the allotted college with in the stipulated time and not paying the prescribed fee will have no claim on admission into diploma programmes offered by ANGRAU.
  • The selection of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/BC/CAP/PH/ NCC/ Sports is subject to clearance to be given by the respective departments during the counseling.
  • Registrar, ANGRAU is not responsible for the delay in clearance in respect of doubtful Caste/ CAP/PH/ NCC/ Sports cases.
  • Any disputes concerned to admissions if any, shall be within the jurisdiction of the Hon’ble A.P. High court.

 Seat cancellation:

  • If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat before the closure of admissions for the Academic Year 2024-25 an amount of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only) for general candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST candidates shall be collected as processing fee. The remaining fees already paid during admission shall be refunded.
  • If the admitted candidate cancels his/her seat after closure of admissions process for the AY 2024-25, the candidate should pay 4020.00 (Rupees Four thousand and twenty only) for general candidates and Rs.2010/- (Rupees Two thousand and ten only) for SC/ST candidates towards seat cancellation fee and the candidate has to forgo the fee already paid.
  • After completion/closing of admission process, request for change of diploma course/ polytechnic is not permissible under any circumstances.

  • SSC Memorandum of Marks or Equivalent Examination
  • Bonafide / Study Certificate from 4th to 10th
  • Transfer certificate of SSC
  • Migration Certificate
  • Non-Municipal Area Study Certificate (FORM-I enclosed in this information bulletin) for the students studied in rural area.
  • Certified copy of the Social Status (Caste) Certificate with inclusion of applicant’s name issued by the competent authority in case of applicants belonging to Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  • Latest Income certificate/ EWS certificate (not older than 6 months) issued by concerned authority for the candidates who applied under EWS category only.
  • Physically Challenged Certificate, if
  • Discharge Certificate and ID card for Children of Armed Personnel Certificate / Defense Personnel Certificate, if applicable (all as one PDF).
  • National Cadet Corps (NCC) certificate, if
  • Sports and Games Certificates (Form-I/Form-II/Form-III/Form-IV as applicable).

 All the original copies of the above certificates should be produced at the time of Admission at the concerned polytechnic.


Future Prospects:

  • 20 % supernumerary seats of total intake (of that corresponding academic year) of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture is reserved for the passed-out Diploma holders for admission into First year B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture through AGRICET entrance examination conducted by ANGRAU.
  • Candidates who have passed three years Diploma in Agricultural Engineering are eligible for admission into B. Tech (Ag. Engg.) through lateral entry via

 Eligibility for other Degree Programmes:

  • As per GO Rt. No.17 Dt. 10-02-2021, Govt. of A. P, permission has been accorded to Universities, Colleges and Institutes etc., to admit 2 year diploma holders awarded by ANGRAU, Dr YSR HU & SVVU into B.Sc. Biology stream programmes/combinations, B. Voc. Programmes in Agriculture and Horticulture programmes and other relevant disciplines as well as B. Com and B. A without Mathematics and Statistics.


  • ANGRAU is intended to impart education to students, undertake research and extension Hence, University does not guarantee any employment to the students who complete the diploma courses.
  • ANGRAU reserves the right to modify or cancel the notification without any prior notice.

  • Candidates are informed that mere submission of an online application and attending for counseling does not guarantee seat allotment.
  • Candidates called for Manual/Special/mop up counseling will have to attend at their own cost only. Either Parent/ Guardian of the candidate shall be allowed for Manual/ Special/ Mop up counseling.
  • The candidate who secures a seat should submit all certificates in Original along with the prescribed fees at the time of admission either through online counseling or at the time of Manual/ Special/ Mop up counseling.
  • The certificates of the candidates under special categories (PH, CAP, NCC & SPORTS) shall be verified by the authorities concerned. The University will not interfere in the process of preparation of priority/merit lists. The University allots seats to the candidates based on the priorities indicated by the competent authorities.
  • The Counseling/Verification under special categories (PH, CAP, NCC & SPORTS) will be held in the presence of authorities concerned and seats will be allotted as per the priorities indicated by the officers concerned.
  • In case, the information furnished or the certificates uploaded by the candidates are found to be false, the University will take appropriate action against the individuals concerned and his/her application will be summarily rejected.
